Is The Zodiac Case Not Solved Because It Is A Group?
There has been so many people working on this case for decades; regular Joe Blows, the police, the FBI, the CIA, and who knows how many experts. And still here we are with nothing that solves the case in a manner that finally satisfies everyone that, yes, so-and-so is the Zodiac. No one agrees on the who or why. I have some thoughts on why this is the way it is. I believe this case is so complicated, with so many different POI's that seem to fit, yet not everything fits any of them, because Zodiac is not one whacked out sk, but rather we are looking at a "group" referred to as THE Zodiac.
My thought is this. First I believe the Zodiac is a group of people. If so, this is why so many suspects seem to fit at times and other times they don't. This also can account for the different handwriting when the content of the messages are the same. This can also account for things happening in different places when it seems a certain suspect can't possibly be in two places at once.
This would also account for the different descriptions by different witnesses. It also would explain why more than one serial killer, who cant be in different areas at the same time, seems to have similar styles when writiing to the police(or to "someone" out there). It also would make sense why the Z crimes are so different in the manner they are done.
Now, "if" we have a group of people who make up The Zodiac, then these people have to have something IN COMMON... what is it? Well, being the sign of the times then, and being there were so many different radical factions out there, so many people on drugs, so many people experimenting with different belief systems, so many people being used as experiments by the government; then figuring out what they all have in common is just about as hard as figuring out who they all are. However, I think figuring out what they have in common is actually easier than figuring out who they all are; at least if we are looking only on the surface. But once we are able to figure out how the communications work, then it starts to point to at least the "letter creater". I say "letter creater" because it really seems to me that one person is "creating" the letters (for the most part), more than one is actually writing them out, and not many of us have but a few of them. I believe the police/feds have a ton more of this stuff we don't know about, therefore, we have gaping time lapses between what we do have, and it is our not having these communications which makes it so hard to figure out the ones we do have. I believe each of the communications tie into all the others and it's like trying to read a book with 80% of the pages gone; you don't know who the characters are, you don't know what the story is about, you just have bits and pieces and are left to make up your own story. Result? A thousand different ideas and 50 different suspects; resulting in, case not solved.
Here is something else I believe. I believe at the time we have so many dangerous radical factions out there killing and bombing etc, that COINTELPRO was in the middle of all of this and out there killing and setting people up to be killed, that the government was in itself one of the most dangerous radical factions out there. They recruited so many people from the different radical factions, trying to get these people to turn on each other(even within their own groups)so the government could break these groups up and cause them to be defunct. It was to the point at that time, that these facitions, who had previously hated one another, were now combining efforts and they were becoming a real danger to the government. The only way to stop that was for COINTELPRO to create havoc (within and between these groups), as much as they possibly could; even if it meant actually killing them, or allowing others to kill them. Sounds insane but it really did happen and there is plenty of documentation to support this thought. So you have anyone with any use to the government, given a license to kill; or do whatever it took to get these factions weakened and stopped. The radical 60's was not called the RADICAL 60's for no reason. It really was a time of political upheaval. So with all of that said, I think our government was involved hand in hand with a lot of the killings going on and it was done in the name of COINTELPRO. I think this is one of the reasons we don't have all of the information as it would show the government was involved in a lot of what was going on.
The other thing is, there were groups for every kind of "social injustice" anyone thought was going on, including groups against people who were fighting against "social injustice" groups. We had Black Panthers, KKK, The Minutemen, The Weather Underground, The SDA, PL, SLA, all the anti-war factions(these were HUGE), groups against what they believed were communist groups; and these people were not "thugs", they were very intelligent college students who although normally peaceful people, just got fed up and got violent. Add all of the peace and love, drugs and new belief systems including many of the occult to the mix and people are crazy. (I'm not single out the occult by any means, Christianity in many forms is just as bad, especially when adding in ACID) A lot of these groups who once fought against one another, decided if they combined forces, it would add to numbers and strengthen them against their common enemy, the government. Everyone was headed into the REVOLUTION. Then you add all of these very mad and disillusioned vets, who are very well trained in war, going through hell at some of these bases, being courtmartialed and charged with all kinds of crimes including Mutiny; add this all together and somewhere out there... you have "The Zodiac"... which I believe consisted of a mix of some closely connected and some loosely connected, however, they were connected; and they were mad, they were tired of the crap from the government and they were willing to create as much havoc as they could to start a revolution. At the same time we had the government not knowing how to stop this, so the government started recruiting these people to do it for them, allowing these people to do whatever they wanted, so long as the result was to get the factions dismantled. So when the government did this, and was not only "allowing" people to kill people, but also killing people themselves, it made for a very good reason for the government to never allow the Zodiac case to be solved. They could not allow the truth to come out... however, they did not hide and secure all their files so well, and eventually, some of the radicals got their hands on them when they were actually stolen; so all of this info started to surface, and once we get our hands on all of this info, then the Zodiac case begins to make sense.
It took me a long time to figure out just exactly how all of this was all tied together, but once I finally bumped into all this info(in detail) it all started falling into place. Once that happened, then I could go back through all of the Zodiac communications and know what it was Zodiac was talking about. Once you understand the background of all of these people, the who is who in these factions, the causes they were fighting for, and how many of them were having to go underground(even to the point of pretending they were dead); then you begin to see where Zodiac originated and who all it is who is communicating through these letters, cards and codes. Once you know who they are, it is easier to figure out what they are saying, and who they are saying it too. We look at this stuff and think it is so complicated or that it makes no sense so therefore it must mean nothing. The truth is, for those who were part of this, who knew what it was all about, it was very easy for them to look at this stuff and know what was being said, they knew who was writing it, they know who it was written to, and they knew the code. It was easy for THEM. Once you know who they are and what this is all about, then it becomes easier for us to know what is being said, because we then have something to compare these words to. When there is enough of this showing up over and over and over, it creates a pattern and you can figure it out. We might finally figure it all out, but the government and the feds are never ever going to figure this out, because they don't want it figured out, and that might sound insane, but once you know just how extensive operation INTELCOPRO and the Secret Army Operation was, then you begin to rethink this whole case. At least for me, that is how it is.
