Ross Steven Michael SullivanDOB: July 28, 1941 (New York) DOD: Sept. 29, 1977 (Santa Cruz, CA) Parents: Harold Sullivan and Harriet Gray Sullivan Siblings: Military: None Education: Known Addresses: -Binghamton, NY -404 E. Harvard St. Glendale, CA. -Riverside, CA (I believe he lived on Candlelight Dr.) -512 2nd St. Santa Cruz, CA. -2177 17th Ave Santa Cruz, CA (at time of death in 1977) Ross Sullivan worked in the RCC library and knew Cheri Jo Bates. My opinion is that he is the best suspect in her murder, but I'm not sold on that being a Zodiac murder. I do find Ross to be a decent Zodiac suspect, but there just isn't enough information on him or his whereabouts while the murders were being committed. Death certificate, obtained by Mike Morford: Ross is the spitting image to the Stine composite: 1968 Arrest: Possible fun fact: Ross most likely met Bruce Lee at least once. I'll get into that later.

There were at least three churches within a couple blocks of the Santa Cruz address in 1977. I wonder if Ross attended one of them. Live Oak United Methodist was the closest at 2091 17th Ave. I don't recall what Ross' religion was as a youngster. Someone once told me of a neighbor of Ross' in Santa Cruz that they had heard Ross used to cause trouble with, but they could not recall the name of the neighbor so it might not even be true. I have tried finding some names of people in that area with police records and only found one so far. A guy named Robert Lee Peacock who lived at 2410 17th Ave. I believe that Peacock was born in 1945, making him a little younger than Ross. Peacock was sentenced to 9 months in jail in Dec. 1977 (just a few months after Ross' death) after his 3rd DUI offense. I haven't done much research on Peacock yet, but I will post anything of interest if I do find anything. There was also a William Tilden Pearce Jr. arrested for DUI on Sept. 30 1977 (the day after Ross' death). He lived 8-9 blocks from Ross. I know I'm really reaching here, but what the hell. Found an article from Jan. 28, 1969 saying that two men were arrested for possession of stolen property and auto burglary. They are both listed at 512 2nd St in Santa Cruz: A couple of names to check into. If either are still alive, they most likely knew Ross in 1968/1969. Charles Edward Henning Born March 27, 1950 Alameda County Died November 7, 2004 SSN 545-78-6293 Mother's Maiden Name: Hartwig Spouse/significant other: Patricia "Patty" Ann Adams Henning (mother's maiden name Brown) Children: Malia Virginia Henning (born Dec. 22, 1990) who lives in Marysville, CA. Known addresses: 312 Trevethan Ave in Santa Cruz (1991) Can't find anything on Douglas Peters yet. Morf posted this on his site. A guy at the same address from the May 20, 1970 Santa Cruz Sentinel:

Cheri Jo Bates, a student at Riverside City College, was murdered at approximately 9:30 pm on October 30, 1966. She had been studying in the campus library shortly beforehand. When Cheri left the library, her car would not start because somebody had tampered with it. Most believe that the person who sabotaged Cheri's car had approached her and offered her a ride. Just blocks from the library, the man attacked and killed her. Was this man Ross Sullivan? Ross worked in the library and most of the librarians were scared of him. One librarian, JoAnn Bailey, sent a letter to Riverside PD stating her opinion that Ross was the murdered of Cheri Jo. This letter is what started the whole Ross Sullivan thing, and he has become a damn good suspect ever since, even though there is still a lot of unknowns about the guy. This link has a timeline or Ross including everything that is known to the Zodiac community: zodiackillerciphers.com/wiki/index.php?title=Ross_SullivanAnd a link with a great overview of Ross as a suspect put together by Mike Morford: zodiackillersite.com/viewtopic.php?f=109&t=2300

Yeah, his father was a pastor or preacher or something along those lines, so Ross was involved with church at a young age.

Yeah, his father was a pastor or preacher or something along those lines, so Ross was involved with church at a young age. ____________ be nice to know which church denomination and if they ever interacted with Cheri's church. I'll try to find out. I haven't really ever looked at Sullivan. I'll have to get familiar with who he is etc. I like to look at all the suspects being I think there is more than one person involved in whoever the actual "killer" is.

I never payed all that much attention to him either, although I do like him a lot as a Cheri Jo suspect. One thing I found that was kind of interesting is that when Ross was a teenager in NY, he went on some sort of church field trip. I think the bus caught on fire or something weird like that, but I don't remember. Anyways, me being weird and wanting to uncover every rock, I started researching the other kids that were on this trip with Ross and his father. Turns out that one of the kids was Wink Davenport. I hadn't heard of him before then, but he is well known in the sports world and his daughter is a famous tennis player. That has nothing to do with anything, but Wink is still alive so I was thinking about trying to find an email address for him and reach out to ask if he remembers Ross. The dude is in his late 70's now so who knows. Might be worth giving it a try.
I think Morf's site probably has all kinds of info on Ross' church life and whatnot. I haven't looked into that too much.
