We will start with the man that founded the group, Bob DePugh. Robert Boliver "Bob" DePugh (15 April 1923 – 30 June 2009) was an American anti-Communist activist who founded the Minutemen militant anti-Communist organization in 1961. DePugh was born in Independence, Missouri, where his father served as deputy sheriff. He enlisted in the United States Army during World War II, but he was dismissed for nervousness and depression. He attended Kansas State University for a few months before dropping out. DePugh went on to found a veterinary drug firm in 1953 that folded in 1956. He enrolled at Washburn University briefly, then started BioLab, another veterinary drug firm, in Norborne, Missouri, which was more successful. In addition to veterinary products, the company produces a malt-flavored ultra-compact storage food for humans called Minuteman Survival Tabs. Some 45 years later, this product is still popular in survivalist circles. He became a member of the John Birch Society and according to a biography he was influenced by the House Un-American Activities Committee. DePugh published a 10-page pamphlet on guerilla warfare via the Minutemen in 1961. The Minutemen's newsletter was called On Target. He was a founder of the Patriotic Party in 1966. In 1966, DePugh was arrested on federal weapons charges, which were later dismissed. Their offices were bombed in 1967, and DePugh resigned from the Minutemen in 1967. In February 1968, he was indicted by a federal grand jury in Seattle, Washington for conspiracy to commit bank robbery. Also in 1968, he was arrested for violation of federal firearms laws. He skipped bail and went underground for over a year until he was caught in 1969 in Truth or Consequences, New Mexico. He was convicted in 1970 and released from prison in May 1973. DePugh later wrote an anti-communist quasi-survivalist manual, Can You Survive?, and was associated briefly with Liberty Lobby. In the 1980s DePugh became involved in the Identity Christianity movement. In the early 1990s he was tried but acquitted on a morals and pornography charge with an underage girl and on three counts of federal firearms violations. DePugh eventually grew disgusted with all politics and retired from activism. mauryk2.com/2009/08/29/robert-bolivar-depugh-r-i-p-founder-of-the-minutemen/Bob DePugh, founder of The Minutemen, died June 30, 2009, at his apartment, below a storefront church in Richmond, Missouri. He was 86 and alone. There was no funeral. The body was cremated and funds solicited to pay for it. Out of politics for years, he was largely forgotten. But as journalist T.J. Greaney pointed out in an obit for the Columbia Daily Tribune: In the 1960s if you entered a restroom or a phone booth, there’s a chance you might have noticed a three-inch-square sticker at eye level. A closer look might show the image of a rifle crosshairs superimposed over a menacing text: “See that old man at the corner where you buy your papers?” the sticker read. “He may have a silencer equipped pistol under his coat. That fountain pen in the pocket of the insurance salesman that calls on you might be a cyanide gas gun. What about your milkman? Arsenic works slow but sure . . . Traitors, beware! Even now the crosshairs are on the back of your necks.” Pretty heady stuff. But what was the truth? The Minutemen had been founded in 1961 while DePugh and some friends were out duck hunting. Heavily influenced by the John Birch Society, they feared an impending Communist takeover of the United States and decided to organize a violent counteraction. Bob DePugh published a 10-page pamphlet on guerilla warfare and put out a monthly newsletter called ON TARGET. Organized into secret cells of 5 to 15 members, they trained and stockpiled weapons. The problem was they loudly proclaimed their goals, exaggerated their strength–claiming 10,000 while having under 500–and made themselves the target of law enforcement. While probably soundly organized in their Missouri base, they weren’t too choosy who they allowed to affiliate in the rest of the country. The result was DePugh, who had been named after the revolutionary South America and imagined himself to be the Paul Revere of the 20th century, presided over a group of a few hundred described by one observer as “the damnedest bunch of dingalings, blabber mouths and outright fuck-ups to ever come down the pike.” If you’re going to organize an underground guerrilla army, The Minutemen provided a negative example. Fifteen is too large for a cell; five should be the max. You don’t have a loose federation of recruits nationally that you don’t even know. You have to have a low profile like drug smugglers–those who survive & thrive don’t act like characters out of the movie “Scarface.” By contrast, Minutemen paramiltary training sessions were well-publicized. Men would crawl on their bellies, practice markmanship and booby-trapping. And again, DePugh carelessly allowed loosely-affiliated groups to spring up across the country under The Minutemen banner. He’d have no control but would be liable for any blame. DePugh had a knack for publicity and newspapers picked up his claims of having a vast underground of thousands. In truth, the underground didn’t amount to much but the Feds picked up the scent and were after him. In 1967, he was convicted of violating the National Firearms Act for having secret caches of illegal weapons which were found. He jumped bail and was on the lam for two years. Caught, he served four years in prison and The Minutemen were no more. He never re-gained the influence he once had. And he still had legal problems because of screw-ups under his banner over whom he had no control. For example, a group in Connecticutt that tried firing mortars into a pacifist camp. What should he have done? His themes of self-reliance, ultra-patriotism and anti-communism struck a chord. He authored several popular books on survivalism which are still in print and usedful. He founded the Patriotic Party in 1966. He should have concentrated on the party and above-ground stuff and done the rest on the QT, quietly and patiently. But in 1967 the crap hit the fan and it all crashed. His analysis was premature by about 30 years. (Think Tom Chittum and his book on Civil War Two.) There was no imminent Communist take-over. Anti-communism is usually strongest when the the actual communists are weakest. But we can learn from Bob DePugh’s successes and his failures. He at least tried.

Gerry P. Hemming Gerald Patrick Hemming, one of nine children, was born in Los Angeles on 1st March, 1937. He attended El Monte Union High School in California before joining the U.S. Marine Corps in 1954.
Hemming reached the rank of sergeant and received an honorable discharge. in October 1958. The following year travelled to Cuba where he gave help to Fidel Castro and his revolutionary forces. In January 1959 he claims he met Lee Harvey Oswald.
A confidential U.S. Army report from March 1960 reports that Hemming was "stationed with Cuban rebel air force in Pinar del Rio. Claims he is a T-33 jet pilot with mission to intercept U.S.-based planes which fly over Cuba bent on destroying cane fields. Was formerly stationed in Isle of Pines. Subject wears Army fatigues, is armed with a pistol, and wears a U.S. paratrooper badge. He states he has been in Cuba for two years. He wears no insignia of rank.''
In 1961 Hemming established Interpen. Other members included Loran Hall, Roy Hargraves, William Seymour, Lawrence Howard, Steve Wilson, Howard K. Davis, Edwin Collins, James Arthur Lewis, Dennis Harber, Dick Whatley, Bill Dempsey, Ramigo Arce, Ronald Augustinovich, Joe Garman, Edmund Kolby, Ralph Schlafter, Manuel Aguilar and Oscar Del Pinto.
Declassified FBI files show that the agency had an informer within Interpen. His code name was MM T-1. In one document dated 16th June, 1961, it said that MM T-1 had “been connected with Cuban revolutionary activities for the past three years”. One document dated 12th May, 1961, claims that Allen Lushane of Miami “had made a trip to Texas to recruit Americans for some future military action against the Government of Cuba”. The document adds that the “first training camp was established by Gerald Patrick Hemming with Dick Watley and Ed Colby running the camp.” In an interview that he gave to John M. Newman on 6th January, 1995, Hemming claims that the FBI informer was Steve Wilson.
It has been noted that Hemming travels seem to have mirrored those of Lee Harvey Oswald. This has led to the suggestion that he was working for the FBI in preparing a "legend" for Oswald. Interpen was involved in training members of the anti-Castro groups funded by the Central Intelligence Agency in Florida in the early 1960s. When the government began to crack down on raids from Florida in 1962, Interpen set up a new training camp in New Orleans. During this period Hemming was arrested by Customs for gun-running, but the charges were later dismissed.
In June 1962, The Miami Herald, reported that Hemming was ultimately forced to close the camp on the north edge of Lake Pontchartrain at the behest of the Cuban Revolutionary Council's Miami headquarters. It was claimed that this had happened under pressure from the CIA. When this work came to an end in 1964 Hemming was employed in the construction industry in Miami.
FBI files show that Gerry Hemming told agents in March 1968 that someone had offered to pay him to kill Martin Luther King.
Gerry Hemming has granted long interviews with several writers working on the assassination of John F. Kennedy. This includes Anthony Summers (The Kennedy Conspiracy), Noel Twyman (Bloody Treason), John M. Newman (Oswald and the CIA), Joan Mellen (A Farewell to Justice) and David Talbot (Brothers: The Hidden History of the Kennedy Years).
Some researchers believe that a combination of Interpen members and anti-Castro Cubans were involved in the assassination of John F. Kennedy. This included Hemming, James Arthur Lewis, Roy Hargraves, Edwin Collins, Steve Wilson, David Morales, Herminio Diaz Garcia, Tony Cuesta, Eugenio Martinez, Virgilio Gonzalez, Felipe Vidal Santiago and William (Rip) Robertson.
By 1976, Hemming established an office in the Jose Marti Building in Miami. He told a reporter with the The Miami Herald that he was ''operations director'' of Parabellum Corporation, a group started in October 1971 by Rolando Masferrer and others for the sale of military armaments to domestic and foreign markets.
Gerry Hemming was arrested on 23rd August, 1976, for the illegal transfer of a silencer, and drug smuggling. It seems that this was the point that he began talking about his past work with the CIA. He told one reporter: "All of a sudden they're accusing me of conspiracy to import marijuana and cocaine. Hey, what about all the other things I've been into for the last 15 years, lets talk about them. Let's talk about the Martin Luther King thing, let's talk about Don Freed, Le Coubre, ******-killers in bed with the Mafia, the Mafia in bed with the FBI, and the goddamn CIA in bed with all of them. Let's talk about all the people I dirtied up for them over the years." Hemming was convicted by a Miami jury of conspiracy to import marijuana. In 1978 he was sentenced to six months in prison by U.S. District Judge William M. Hoeveler. Hemming was released on appeal bond and the conviction was later overturned.
In August, 1978, Victor Marchetti published an article about the assassination of John F. Kennedy in the liberty Lobby newspaper, Spotlight. In the article Marchetti argued that the House Special Committee on Assassinations (HSCA) had obtained a 1966 CIA memo that revealed Hemming, E. Howard Hunt and Frank Sturgis had been involved in the plot to kill Kennedy. Marchetti's article also included a story that Marita Lorenz had provided information on this plot. Later that month Joseph Trento and Jacquie Powers wrote a similar story for the Sunday News Journal.
On 14th April, 1980, Gerry Hemming was arrested at the Lantana Airport in Palm Beach County with a plane loaded with 723 pounds of marijuana and a cache of Quaaludes. Hemming claimed he was he was working for the U.S. government in an undercover operation. Hemming told Alan J. Weberman that he was working for Mitchell WerBell and Lucien Conein. Hemming was sentenced to 35 years in prison. State records indicate he served seven years. The HSCA did not publish this CIA memo linking its agents to the assassination of John F. Kennedy. Hunt now decided to take legal action against the Liberty Lobby and in December, 1981, he was awarded $650,000 in damages. Liberty Lobby appealed to the United States Court of Appeals. It was claimed that Hunt's attorney, Ellis Rubin, had offered a clearly erroneous instruction as to the law of defamation. The three-judge panel agreed and the case was retried. This time Mark Lane defended the Liberty Lobby against Hunt's action.
Lane eventually discovered Marchetti’s sources. The main source was William Corson. It also emerged that Marchetti had also consulted James Angleton and Alan J. Weberman before publishing the article. As a result of obtaining of getting depositions from David Atlee Phillips, Richard Helms, G. Gordon Liddy, Stansfield Turner and Marita Lorenz, plus a skillful cross-examination by Lane of E. Howard Hunt, the jury decided in January, 1995, that Marchetti had not been guilty of libel when he suggested that John F. Kennedy had been assassinated by people working for the CIA.
Hemming moved from Florida to Fayetteville in North Carolina in the 1990s because he wanted to be near the Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
Gerald Patrick Hemming died in his North Carolina home on 29th January, 2008.

Loran Eugene Hall Loran Eugene Hall was born in Newton, Kansas, on 4th January 1930. He joined the U.S. Army and later became a mercenary who joined the rebels led by Fidel Castro. Hall fell out with Castro and in 1959 he spent several months in prison. In the prison at the same time was Santo Trafficante.
On his release he moved to the United States and along with Gerry P. Hemming was a member of the anti-Castro group, Interpen (Intercontinental Penetration Force). Hall also joined Hemming, Frank Sturgis and David Ferrie in the International Anti-Communist Brigade.
In an interview he gave to the Select House Committee on Assassinations Hall admitted that "I was a radical right wing. I was a reactionary... almost every meeting that I ever went to I heard somebody plotting or talking about somebody should blow Kennedy's head off."
In 1962 Hall and Hemming met John Rousselot, a congressman with ties to the John Birch Society. Rousselot gave Hall and Hemming the name of Robert Morris, a Dallas attorney and former counsel to the Senate Internal Security Committee. Morris put the two men into contact with Lester Logue, who provided them with money. It is believed that this money originally came from Haroldson L. Hunt. Hall later told HSCA investigators that he participated in several raids on shipping around Cuba in February and March 1963 and was wounded in the leg.
In April 1963 Gerry P. Hemming introduced Hall to John Martino. A few days later Hall met Santo Trafficante, Sam Giancana and Johnny Roselli at a Miami Beach hotel. Hall later reported that Giancana gave Eddie Bayo $15,000 as a down payment for a raid on Cuba. Bayo claimed that two officers in the Red Army based in Cuba wanted to defect to the United States. Bayo added that these men wanted to pass on details about atomic warheads and missiles that were still in Cuba despite the agreement that followed the Cuban Missile Crisis.
Bayo's story was eventually taken up by several members of the anti-Castro community. William Pawley became convinced that it was vitally important to help get these Soviet officers out of Cuba. To help this happen he contacted James Eastland, the chairman of the Senate Internal Security Subcommittee.
Pawley also contacted Ted Shackley, head of the CIA's JM WAVE station in Miami. Shackley decided to help Pawley organize what became known as Operation Tilt. He also assigned Rip Robertson to help with the operation. David Sanchez Morales, another CIA agent, also became involved in this attempt to bring out these two Soviet officers. In June, 1963, a small group, including Eddie Bayo, John Martino, William Pawley, Rip Robertson and Richard Billings, a journalist working for Life Magazine, secretly arrived in Cuba. They were unsuccessful in their attempts to find these Soviet officers and they were forced to return to Miami. Bayo remained behind and it was rumoured that he had been captured and executed. However, his death was never reported in the Cuban press. Larry Hancock, argues in his book, Someone Would Have Talked, that there were uncorroborated reports that Bayo did return and was seen in Florida in the months following Operation Tilt. John Martino later told Gerry P. Hemming that the assassination of Fidel Castro was the real object of the Bayo-Pawley operation. When interviewed by the Select House Committee on Assassinations Hall admitted that he carried out missions against Cuba on behalf of the CIA with Rip Robertson in 1963.
Hall did not take part in the Bayo-Pawley raid as he became involved in a project to overthrow the government of Haiti. According to the author of The Road to Dallas, the invasion of Haiti involved John Martino, Irving Davidson, Roland Masferrer and Carlos Marcello. Kaiser also speculates that the "involvement of both Martino and Davidson suggests that while Masferrer reportedly hoped to establish an anti-Castro base in Haiti after overthrowing Duvalier, mob interests were looking forward to building some new casinos there."
Hall re-established contact with Santo Trafficante in Florida in 1963. In his book, The Road to Dallas, the historian, David Kaiser claims: "Loran Hall had been involved in many discussions of assassination plots against Castro - including one failed attempt known as the Bayo-Pawley raid in the previous June - and had also heard a good deal of talk about assassinating President Kennedy."
During this time Hall travelled with William Seymour and Lawrence Howard. Michael Rohde, a lawyer who met them during this period, described Hall and Seymour as "two extremely dangerous, committed individuals." On 25th September, 1963, a Cuban exile, Silvia Odio had a visit from three men who claimed they were from New Orleans. Two of the men, Leopoldo and Angelo, said they were members of the Junta Revolucionaria. The third man, Leon, was introduced as an American sympathizer who was willing to take part in the assassination of Fidel Castro. After she told them that she was unwilling to get involved in any criminal activity, the three men left.
Silvia Odio discovered after the assassination of John F. Kennedy that Leon was Lee Harvey Oswald. Odio gave evidence to the Warren Commission and one of its lawyers commented: "Silvia Odio was checked out thoroughly... The evidence is unanimously favorable... Odio is the most significant witness linking Oswald to the anti-Castro Cubans."
On 16th September, 1964, FBI agent Leon Brown interviewed Loran Hall on behalf of the Warren Commission. Brown claims that Hall admitted that he, Lawrence Howard and William Seymour made a visit to a woman who could have been Silvia Odio. However, when Hall was re-interviewed on 20th September and was shown a photograph of Odio, he claimed she was not the woman he met in New Orleans. The FBI interviewed Silvia Odio again on 1st October, 1964. They showed her photographs of Loran Hall, William Seymour, Lawrence Howard and Celio Castro Alga. She claimed that " none of these individuals were identical with the three persons... who had come to her apartment in Dallas in the last week of September, 1963." Her sister, Annie Odio, who was also in the apartment at the time, also stated that "none of the photographs appeared similar to the three individuals in her recollection."
The author, Anthony Summers, suggests that the visit had "been a deliberate ploy to link Junta Revolucionaria, a left-wing exile group, with the assassination". Hall later gave evidence before the Select House Committee on Assassinations and denied he had told the FBI that he had visited Odio on 25th September, 1963.
In 1975 Harry Dean claimed he had been an undercover agent for the Federal Bureau of Investigation. In 1962 he infiltrated the John Birch Society. He later reported that General Edwin Walker and John Rousselot had hired two gunman, Hall, and Eladio del Valle, to kill President John F. Kennedy. However, Dean was unable to provide any evidence to back up his claim.
Hall denied that he been involved in the assassination. However, in an interview he gave to the The Dallas Morning News (17th September, 1978), he was approached by right-wing activists working with CIA operatives, who wanted him to join the conspiracy to kill John F. Kennedy. According to Hall, he refused the contract.
In an interview with Alan J. Weberman in April 1977, about Gerry P. Hemming, Hall stated that "Hemming is a CIA punk, OK? I've known the SOB for fourteen years. He turned his own goddam crews in so he wouldn't have to go to Cuba. He's fingered me on my own goddam deals and caused me to get arrested... Hey. man. Right as it stands now, there's only two of us left alive - that's me and Santos Trafficante. And as far as I'm concerned we're both going to stay alive - because I ain't gonna say shit."
David Kaiser uses this evidence in his book, The Road to Dallas, to link Hall and Santos Trafficante to the assassination of John F. Kennedy. However, during his testimony to the Select House Committee on Assassinations in May 1977, Hall makes it clear that he is referring to the Bayo-Pawley raid rather than the killing of Kennedy.
It was reported by Lee Hancock in the The Dallas Morning News on 13th September, 1989, that "A federal drug conspiracy indictment handed down in Tulsa in July names Loran Eugene Hall Sr., 59; his daughter, Barbara Ann Marteney, 34, of Mesquite; and his sons, Michael Stephen Hall, 36, of Burns, Kan., and Loran Eugene Hall Jr., 34, of Derby, Kan.; and two other Kansas residents. The indictment charges that the elder Mr. Hall led the ring, which manufactured methamphetamine between October 1987 and February 1989. Loran Hall Jr. and Michael Hall pleaded guilty Monday. Their father and sister remain at large."
During the trial of Loran Eugene Hall Jr., he claimed that a methamphetamine ring based in Mesquite was set up by a CIA operative to funnel money to the Contras in Nicaragua. Jim Heflet, a Tulsa attorney representing Hall, said that his client believes the operation was a CIA front. "It may be true. There's quite an extensive history on his father's CIA involvement," Heflet said. "My client told me that a lot of his dad's involvement - specifically in the Kennedy assassination - has been sealed up, and we never may find out what it was."
Loran Hall died in Newton, Kansas, in April 1995.

I dont know if David Ferrie or any of the other 'players' from the JFK murder were Minutemen so Im just sticking to the ones that we know were Guy BanisterGuy Banister was born in Monroe, Louisiana, on March 7, 1901. After studying at the Louisiana State University he joined the Monroe Police Department.
In 1934, Banister joined the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Originally based in Indianapolis, he later moved to New York City where he was involved in the investigation of the American Communist Party. J. Edgar Hoover was impressed by Banister's work and in 1938 he was promoted to run the FBI unit in Butte, Montana. He also served in Oklahoma City, Minneapolis and Chicago before he retired from the FBI in 1954.
Banister moved back to Louisiana and in January 1955 became Assistant Superintendent of the New Orleans Police Department where he was given the task of investigating organized crime and corruption within the police force. It later emerged that he was also involved in looking at the role that left-wing political activists were playing in the struggle for black civil rights in New Orleans.
Banister developed extreme right-wing views and worked as an investigator for the Louisiana Un-American Activities Committee. He also published the racist Louisiana Intelligence Digest. Banister had a deep hatred of the civil rights movement and believed that the policy of racial integration was part of a a plan formulated by Joseph Stalin to create racial conflict in America.
Bannister claimed that members of the American Communist Party were involved in a plot to contaminate crops in the United States. He also told the Special Committee of the Arkansas State Legislature that left-wing activists were behind the race riots in Little Rock.
Banister was suspended by the New Orleans Police Department (NOPD) for an incident with a gun in a bar. His suspension ended in June 1954, but when he refused to be transferred to the NOPD's Planning Department, he was dismissed from the force. After leaving the police he established his own private detective agency, Guy Banister Associates.
In 1963 Banister and David Ferrie began working for the lawyer G. Wray Gill and his client, Carlos Marcello. This involved attempts to block Marcello's deportation to Guatemala. Later Banister was linked to the plot to assassinate John F. Kennedy. On 9th August, 1963, Lee Harvey Oswald distributed leaflets that supported Fidel Castro and his government in Cuba. On these leaflets was the address 544 Camp Street, New Orleans. This was also the office of Carlos Bringuier, an anti-Castro exile. Around the corner from 544 Camp Street, located in the same building, was 531 Lafayette Street, which housed the detective agency run by Banister. This raised suspicions that Oswald had been involved in a right-wing conspiracy to kill Kennedy.
On the afternoon of 22nd November, 1963, Banister and Jack Martin went drinking together. On their return to Banister's office the two men got involved in a dispute about a missing file. Banister became so angry that he he drew his Magnum revolver and hit Martin with it several times. Martin was so badly injured that he had to be detained in the local Charity Hospital.
Over the next few days Martin told friends that Banister and David Ferrie had been involved in the assassination of John F. Kennedy. According to Martin, Ferrie was the getaway man whose job it was to fly the assassin out of Texas. He also claimed that Ferrie knew Lee Harvey Oswald from their days in the New Orleans Civil Air Patrol and had given him lessons on how to use a rifle with a telescopic sight. On 25th November, Martin was contacted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. He told them that he thought Ferrie had hypnotized Oswald into assassinating Kennedy. The FBI considered Martin's evidence unreliable and decided not to investigate Banister and Ferrie.
This information eventually reached Jim Garrison, the district attorney of New Orleans. He interviewed Martin about these accusations. Martin claimed that during the summer of 1963 Banister and David Ferrie were involved in something very sinister with a group of Cuban exiles.
Jim Garrison now became convinced that a group of right-wing activists, including Banister, David Ferrie, Carlos Bringuier and Clay Shaw, were involved in a conspiracy with the CIA to kill John F. Kennedy. Garrison claimed this was in retaliation for his attempts to obtain a peace settlement in both Cuba and Vietnam.
Delphine Roberts worked for Banister and later became his mistress. Roberts told Anthony Summers that during the summer of 1963 Lee Harvey Oswald worked for Banister. She said she was in the office when Banister suggested that Oswald should establish a local Fair Play for Cuba Committee. This story was supported by her daughter who met Oswald during this period.
Guy Banister died of coronary thrombosis on June 6, 1964.

Fun fact: The gun that killed Richard Thoresen was purchased (by Louise Thoresen) at a shop in Wisconsin just 4 months later. Important to note that Mower lived in Los Angeles County during the Zodiac murders and I cannot find any records of him living in the bay area at all, although the Minutemen gave seminars all over the state and I have read things that place Mower up north in cities including Berkeley, Oakland and Fresno. He did live close to Riverside when Cheri Jo Bates was murdered so there is that possibility. Plus, there was a letter from someone in the Minutemen mailed to Jack Ruby that looks identical to the Bates letters. The Minutemen were having a meeting or lecture or some sort of event in Los Angeles the day that Cheri Jo was murdered. I cannot seem to find out where Mower went to High School, but am very interested to find that information. This signature was from the early 70's. I have seen several things that he signed through the 70's and 80's, and his 80's signatures are all very sloppy while the 70's ones seem to be pretty neat. Here is what his 80's signatures looked like... Turns out he was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in January 1982. March 16, 1965 FBI interviews Dennis Mower... www.buildingdemocracy.us/archive/dox/lazar/fbi/504-EXTREME%20RIGHT/Southern%20California%20Freedom%20Councils-HQ-1.pdfSome good info. Worth reading! It mentions Mower was the president of the Southern California Freedom Councils, and that Joseph Raymond Carey was the vice president. If my memory is working right, I believe that Carey disappeared in the early 60's and that Keith Gilbert claims he was murdered by Mower. I will have to check into that a little more, but I do know that Carey and Mower were roommates when Carey disappeared. He was a fugitive (for bail jumping after an arrest for burglary on June 6, 1964) at the time of his disappearance as well, so it's possible that he just went into hiding. Mower may also be responsible for the disappearance of Lynn Bernadette Luray, who disappeared from Long Beach, CA August 17, 1964 at the age of 15. Luray and Carey may have been dating and Mower may have killed them both. Also interesting to note is that Mower's brother-in-law had given the FBI information on Mower. -Mower was an FBI informant as far back as 1962 or 1963. But he wouldn't always give them good information. Actually, a lot of the time he would provide them with names of suspected communists in California. -Mower was a suspected child molester. -Mower took a physical in late 1963 in order to join the military, but I don't think he ever served. -The reports talk about Mower often travelling to San Francisco for activities dealing with the Minutemen and the (SCFC (Southern California Freedom Council - Mower was the founder and president... Interesting that the vice president was Joseph Raymond Carey). Mower denied being involved with the Minutemen, but the FBI knew he was lying and knew he was Troy Houghton's right-hand man. -A friend of Mower's, Newton Armstrong Jr., was found hung with his hands tied behind his back in 1962 and Mower told the FBI he thought it was some sort of communist conspiracy, although police had determined it was suicide. How do you hang yourself when your hands are tied behind your back??? Edgar Eugene Bradley is believed to have been the first on the scene the following morning once word got out of Armstrong's murder. Edgar Eugene Bradley will ring a bell to anyone who is into JFK assassination conspiracies. Mower testified at Clay Shaw's trial and stated that in 1960 (although Mower was still in high school at the time) Edgar Eugene Bradley offered Mower $100,000 to assassinate JFK. Loran Hall of the Minutemen testified at Shaw's trial stating that Edgar Eugene Bradley was involved in the assassination. Mower's father was an interesting guy... Benjamin Allen "Jack" Mower Born Sep. 5, 1890 Honolulu, Hawaii Died Jan. 6, 1965 Hollywood, CA Jack Mower was a contract actor out of Warner Brothers Studios from 1910 to 1955. You can find a listing of his credits on www.imdb.com. www.imdb.com/name/nm0610268/?ref_=fn_al_nm_1All Jack Mower's film archives are being held at the University of Southern California, Warner Bros. Archives. , to contact them call 213-748-7747, they can pull paperwork. Most of the documents they have are contracts he signed from the films he was in. Laura Womack, his Great Great Granddaughter, has an 8"x10" Publicity Photo and scrap book of movies he was in. Laura also has records from Warner Bros. Studios which show parts played, addresses he was living at at the time the movie was made, amount he was paid and when he was let go. Laura also has a picture of Jack Mower from the film "Manslaughter" he is in a photo advertising the movie. Another newspaper article states why Anne Mower divorced him, dated Sept. 24 1922. Note: Jack Mower was married five times and at time of death single. Jack appeared in 524 films and several TV series.

Here are some Minutemen members that I was meaning to look into years ago and never got around to it..... Craig Lee AdamsIn the mid 60's he was 28 years old and lived at 37418 Larkin, Palmdale, CA. He was into stamp collecting and auto mechanics and worked as a truck driver. Robert Harrison GuioAge 25 in 1964. Married with one child. 86 Tahoe Ct, Pleasant Hill, CA. Worked as an insurance broker. DOB is July 28, 1939 and now lives in Eagle River, AK. Has also lived in Scotts Valley, CA as well as Santa Cruz. I believe that his wife's name is Lynn E. Guio. Robert is a bishop. In 1989 he registered his own company, Felton Properties Inc. Wayne E. EastmanAge 29 in mid 60's. Worked as an electronic technician. Hobbies include communication codes & ciphers. Lived at 3073 Ramsgate Way, Rancho Cordova, CA. Marcos Diaz LanzUsed the alias of Pedro Garcia. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pedro_Luis_D%C3%ADaz_LanzPedro Luis Díaz Lanz (July 8, 1926 in Havana, Cuba – June 26, 2008) was Chief of the Revolutionary Air Force of Cuba under Fidel Castro, before and after the 1959 Cuban Revolution. In 1957, Pedro Díaz Lanz joined Fidel Castro's rebel group in Santiago, Cuba. He was employed as a commercial pilot with the airline Aerovías Q. He later acted as head of the Revolutionary Air Force, and during 1958 he smuggled weapons and ammunition from Costa Rica and Florida into Cuba by air. After the Cuban Revolution on 1 January 1959, he was confirmed as head of the new Revolutionary Air Force as well as Castro's personal pilot. Within months, he became vocal about his opposition to the influence of communists on the new revolutionary government. On 29 June 1959, Fidel Castro relieved him of his post, and he left immediately by boat for Florida with his second wife and 3 of his six children, and reportedly with Frank Sturgis, a fellow anti-communist. On 14 July 1959, Díaz was interviewed by the US Senate Internal Security subcommittee, where he gave out the first account of Fidel's planned move towards communism.[2] On 21 October 1959 he carried out one of his most notorious acts, flying a twin-engined bomber (variously reported as a B-25 or B-26) over Havana while dropping anti-communist leaflets, along with his brother Marcos Diaz Lanz. Pedro Diaz Lanz piloted and Marcos Diaz Lanz threw the leaflets down from an open bomb hatch. The unsuccessful gunfire from armed forces on the ground caused injuries and deaths, leading to unsubstantiated reports of bombs being dropped from the aircraft. By April 1960, he was recruited by the CIA and became a member of Operation 40, a group of CIA operatives who specialized in carrying out secret anti-Castro assassinations and acts of sabotage. Then on May 27 of 1960, the Miami Herald published a list of names of pilots who were placed on a U.S. Government 'Blacklist' thereby prohibiting them from flying to Cuba; on that list was Pedro Luis Diaz Lanz. Díaz committed suicide with a gunshot wound to the chest in 2008 at the age of 81 after years of poverty and depression. Mary Ferrell's website has links to more than a hundred FBI files on Lanz: www.maryferrell.org/php/showlist.php?docset=1389&sort=title&page=1

William Francis ColleyColley was the California leader of the Minutemen before Troy Houghton. They had a dispute over who was to be the leader and were very close to having a shootout, but it was broken up before any shots were fired. Houghton, of course, went on to lead the Minutemen, while Colley formed some weird group called the "Loyal Order of Mountain Men," a band of citizens training for mountain survival in case of a nuclear attack. Colley purchased a cabin in the woods of Northern Montana, where he and a David Kenneth Levesque hid out for a year because they were fugitives. Colley, Levesque and four other men had received between $10,000 and $25,000 worth of property that was stolen from a San Diego Air Force base. They were arrested in June 1962, and ran while out on bond. Colley was using the alias of Richard Bishop and Levesque was using the alias of Lawrence Williams. They were taken to Flathead County Jail. Colley was only sentenced to 2 months in jail and received 5 years of probation. He was 41 at the time, so his estimated year of birth would have been around 1922. Levesque was a warehouseman with General Dynamics Astronautics, who would steal the items and then Colley and the other men would come by and retrieve the items. The other men were identified as Louis A. Flores, Charles Robert Graham and Lloyd Marvin Brock. Brock and Graham were both 21 at the time of the arrests (1962), and Flores was age 40. One article lists Colley as a "Minutemen leader." It says they stole portable typewriters, tires, lead ingots ( ), building materials and cleaning supplies. Doesn't sound like Air Force property to me, but I think this was a different bust. *David Kenneth Levesque's real name might actually be Kenneth David Levesque. June 30, 1977 Ukiah (California) Daily Journal: www.newspapers.com/image/1961122/?terms=william+francis+colleyA drug bust that Colley was involved in. Colley was sentenced to 30 days in jail and received 12 months of probation. Originally charged on Oct. 9, 1976 for assault with a deadly weapon, he was found guilty of a misdemeanor assault charge on June 1, 1977. The victim, who testified against Colley, was none other than David Levesque. Colley assaulted Levesque with a hammer, including multiple blows to the head. Colley claimed it was self defense.

Troy Harold HoughtonBorn: Sept. 30, 1933 (raised in Los Angeles) Parents: Harold E. Houghton and Vahl Houghton (maiden name Alderman) Marriage: Married Bettie Jones in 1954. They had 3 children together. Known Arrests: March 1, 1957 on a charge of indecent exposure. Nov. 11, 1961 for failure to register as a sex offender. 1966 for possession of a gun with a silencer. Sentenced to 3 years in prison, but disappeared before the sentence was carried out. *There are other arrests that I have to find the details on* Aliases: Troy Haughton, Dan Alderman, Troy Boyle, Troy Epick. He also used the name "Jack" while giving a speech near UCLA once to hide his identity, but most of the people in attendance knew it was Houghton. "Troy Houghton, at thirty-four years of age, cut a commanding figure in the land of southern California palm trees, sun, surf and smog with his heavy head of dark, flat-topped hair, horn-rimmed glasses and demeanor of intense purpose. Aggressive and frequently articulate, the Minutemen's West Coast coordinator is sometimes inclined to outbursts of temper, acts of mischief, a wide, indefatigable range of suspicions and a certain inability to please law-enforcement officers, as his long and somewhat bizarre police record illustrates. Houghton lived in a tidy, one-story home in San Diego with his pretty, dark-haired wife, the former Bettie Jones of southern Iowa farm upbringing, and their three little boys. Troy and Bettie Houghton were married in 1954 while he was a service-station attendant and she an art student in Los Angeles. Soon, Troy was on his way to the Panamint Mountains on the west edge of Death Valley, intending to prospect for uranium. Their interest turned to tungsten soon after their arrival in the mountains. At the time, the government was paying a good price for tungsten, but by the time they had mined a sizable amount and were ready to sell, the price had dropped to unprofitable depths. Their many months in the wilderness had gone almost for naught. They earned enough to pay for their bread and butter, but little more. The Houghton's moved back to Los Angeles in 1956 and Troy did some part-time work with a UCLA geologist before leaving again for the mountains with Bettie, this time to mine for silver and lead. A flash flood from a cloudburst washed out their camp, destroying much of their equipment. This time the Houghton's abandoned the mining business for good. [Soon afterward] Troy had become interested in the need, as he puts it, "to establish an underground army ahead of the Communist take-over." In 1961, after they had settled in San Diego, Bettie said, the newspapers, not Troy, informed Bettie of the nature of Troy's new interest -- guerrilla warfare and the Minutemen." Houghton was short and stocky and had the widow's peak, matching what most people believe the Zodiac Killer looked like. He also has a "large face" that matches up with the description of the Zodiac. And, of course, he had the horn-rimmed glasses. The Minutemen used the cross-hair symbol before the Zodiac. The Minutemen also had a "little list," which the Zodiac said in one of his letters - "I have a little list." One thing to note from an FBI document said that Houghton's garage was filled with bins that contained several types of paper, different sized envelopes, stamps, various types of stationary, pamphlets etc. The man who told this to the FBI was an employee of Houghton's father at a printing company. Troy's wife last heard from him in May 1967. He was last seen in Missouri, and vanished one week after James Earl Ray escaped from a Missouri prison. Some people believe that Houghton may have faked his own death and followed Ray to Canada, as instructed by the Minutemen and the CIA in a plan to get rid of Dr. Martin Luther King. These same people believe that Houghton was the "Raoul" that Ray claimed he was doing jobs for. Houghton, age 9: Nov. 1961: 1961: A LOT MORE HOUGHTON INFO WILL BE POSTED SOON

One interesting question that has come up in the past.... was Raithby Husted related to Vallejo PD Lt. Jim Husted? I have found no answer to that, BUT..... Jim does/did have relatives in Vallejo with the last name of Jensen. I am looking into this to see if there is any connection to Betty Lou Jensen. www.timesheraldonline.com/2013/01/30/elaine-julie-jensen-2/"Survivors include Marilyn and Jim Husted, Medford, OR."..... since Marilyn (Jim's wife) is listed before him, I would think that Marilyn was related to some Jensens, making Jim related by marriage. Pretty sure that Marilyn's father was Herman Jensen.... Herman (Lake Herman Rd) Jensen (Betty Lou Jensen), and that the woman in the obituary, Elaine, was Marilyn's mother, but I am not certain about that yet. Here is Herman's obituary: www.legacy.com/obituaries/name/herman-jensen-obituary?pid=163398586Strange thing in his obit, he did not have a daughter named Marilyn, but it does say that he had an ex-wife named Marilyn Jensen. He died one month after Elaine. I'm pretty sure that this is not the right Herman Jensen though. EDIT: Definitely NOT the same Herman Jensen. Elaine's obit says she and her husband Herman moved to Vallejo from Illinois in 1944. The Herman I just posted graduated from Petaluma (CA) High School in 1944, as well as being born and raised in Petaluma. That is the only Herman Jensen that I have found but I will keep looking. The shitty thing, though, is that typing "Herman Jensen Vallejo, CA" into google only comes up with results on the Zodiac murder of Betty Lou Jensen on Lake Herman Rd. This might by the right Herman Jensen: www.archives.com/1940-census/herman-jensen-il-86741935
