Why Are People Ruling Out (or In) POI's Because Of Passports Or Mailed Letters ?
I had been explaining to someone about how someone having a passport or not, or mailing letters from out of country or not, does not mean that person was or was not actually there . In the 60's, 70's, 80's is was very easy to obtain REAL ISSUED "fake / falsified" ID and Passports. I normally would not post this if I had ONLY personal knowledge of this, as who would believe me LOL
However, here is a good example to back up what I have been saying.
James Kilgore was part of the SLA then......On November 8, 2002, James Kilgore, who had been a fugitive since 1975, was arrested in South Africa and extradited to the United States to face federal explosives and passport fraud charges. Prosecutors alleged that a pipe bomb had been found in Kilgore's apartment in 1975 and that he had obtained a passport under a false name. He pleaded guilty to the charges in 2003.
It says he had a passport under a FALSE NAME.. did not actually say the passport was FAKE, so it was probably a REAL ISSUED one. Just used someone else's name to get it. That was pretty common back then amongst people who had the "know how". It was not that hard. so anyone could have gotten one under anyone's(including any of the POI's) name. I'm just saying this.... just because someone does or does not have a passport in their name, does not mean they were or were not out of USA
So just saying if the SLA member had one. So why can't anyone be using one under another name to "prove" that someone was out of country. Well, they absolutely can... and they can also mail letters under that person's name as well. So anyone who used the excuse, "oh I was out of country at the time" . See, here is my passport to prove it", see here are letters I mailed from there to "prove it", it really does not PROVE anything at all. What I am saying. No one should be ruled out as the Zodiac just because they have "some proof" they were out of country. Passports mean nothing. Mailed letters mean nothing.
and also, people might not have a passport in their name, but they were out of country, under another name.
I just do not think people should be ruling POI's out based on passports and mailed letters with dated postmarks. I see this happening all the time. I think that is not a good reason to rule POI's out or in.
