The Nations Code
I've been working with this code forever; most my life. I love The Nations and I think Zodiac might have loved it also; if not The Nations, then something very much like it. The Nations will work on decoding the Zodiac communications. I've been working with this for a very long time now and it does work. I've never said anything because it is a complicated code to learn, but once you learn the rules, it is not all THAT hard. There are levels of skills that you have; easy, hard, advanced. Zodiac does use some advanced skills, making it very hard for beginners, but the more you work at it, the easier it will get. The Nations has specific RULES you have to follow. You can't just make up your own rules and pick and choose what you want to choose. There is always a "check" to make sure you have chosen the correct meaning of the words he is using in the code. If you can't get it to "check", you know you chose the wrong meaning for his words. So there is no random picking and choosing when using The Nations code. The Nations Code is not some new made up gobbly-gook mess that no one knows about. The Nations code is a set of Cryptic Rules used to solve the Cyrptic Crosswords that are in The Nations Magazine. "The Nation" magazine is the oldest continuously published weekly magazine in the United States. The subject matter of this magazine is mostly political and cultural news. Each magazine has a Cryptic Crossword Puzzle. The Nations "code" is actually a "set of rules" used to solve the cryptic crossword puzzles in The Nations Magazine. The Magazine has been around since 1865; it is not something new, made up by some kook. I'm fairly good at this code but by no means am I an expert, but my skills are at least good enough I can see it all through the Zodiac communications and I can get it to work on them. I'm not sure the Zodiac is using the EXACT "Nations" rules, but it works well enough that I believe The Zodiac is using the Nations or a variation of it. I've been using The Nations rules on this since the Eureka card surfaced. And I have always known the code but never really new where it came from until the Eureka card surfaced. At that time(long story) I was researching the Eureka Card and "Sam" and I somehow by a fluke was taken to The Nations Magazine, and there I bumped into the Cryptic Crossword puzzle section and the NATIONS CODE. Although, I had been using this code most of my life, I never knew it had a real name and it was popular since 1865 and anyone who likes cryptics and who reads "The Nation" magazine, would probably know this code. So I started studying The Nations Code at that time(when the Eureka card surfaced). Since then I have learned more about the actual Nations Rules and it is more advanced than I had learned the code when I was teenager, so I had to go through the nations code rules and learn ALL of them. There are so many rules, it takes a lot of time to learn them all. Once I did that, and then went back through the Zodiac communications, I could find more messages in the communications and get more of them right. It's still hard for me at times and I have to "work at them"; but for the most part I can do them. I've tried to explain all of this many times, but no one gets it. I sound like a crazy person. So rather than try to explain it, I have just decided to tell you what the code it, and let you figure it out yourself. I'm more than willing to HELP you with it, but you have to learn the rules or it will never make sense to you. And you HAVE TO MAKE SURE you stay within the rules. There is no varying any of the rules, or you are just going to be picking random gobbly-gook solutions. I'll post about this more as I get time. But if you want to learn the code and work on it, I'm happy to help you. here is a link to The Nations ruleswww.thenation.com/article/solving-nations-cryptic-crosswords/When you click on the link, if a box pops up and asks you to join, just click that box shut and the Rule Page will automatically come back up. You can also read about The Nations Magazine History here(this way you will understand why this in not just some nonsense; it has been around forever. And anyone who was reading this and liked cryptics could have learned and used this code. I am sure Zodiac might be a person/GROUP(I believe a Group) who would have been interested in The Nations Magazine, and most likely loved the Nations' cryptics and knew the code... therefore they used it in there communications. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Nationthe code I learned as a child basically is much like the Nations only not as advanced. Then in 2004-05 I was taught a more advanced skills on the code I already knew. That took me a good two years to get to that level. I still . did not have a name for the code and had no idea what it was. but once I found the Nations code, I realized what it was and learned the rest of the rules. I forgot to say . I find a few Italian words... in fact I believe Zodiac person writing out the communications knew Italian, and in saying I think he Knew it, he might have been fluent in it. it's possible he grew up with Italian people who spoke the language and he was fluent in it. I'm guessing but I see it in the decoded stuff and it is working. now I have checked these words again Italian to be sure and yes they were italian, but that does not mean they are not also some other Latin based language that uses the same word and spelling. a lot of the latin based languages will have the same words and spelling and I have not checked them all to see if any of the other latin based languages also have these same words spelled the same way. I'll try to check

The most important rule of The Nations code is this....
Each sentence has two parts/two sides... It is like an equation; one side of the sentence will have a meaning that HAS TO = the other side of the meaning of the sentence, sometimes it gives you the clue to solve the other side. but it will definitely create a MATCH
Think of it like a math problem.... example: (4+2) = (2+4) or more skilled is (3+7-2)=(4+1+6-3)... there are NO NUMBERS in this code, it is just an example. your WORD Meanings have to = in your sentence. Your conjunctions are your = signs(for the most part), and each side of the equation has to come up with the same meaning ( or sometimes will tell you how to get the meaning of the other side) THEN you know you have the meaning right, because you have your meaning on both sides will be the same. They = each other. If they don't, then you have it wrong. This is the basis of the code. This is your CHECK. and this insures you are not just picking and choosing and coming up with random solutions.
You work on one sentence at a time. Each sentence will give you a word or meaning. THEN you go on to the next sentence. You never just pick a word and then go looking around and find another word and start making up your own message. That will never work. If you do that, you can come up with anything you want. You have to work each equation(sentence) at a time. After you get all of the sentences worked out you will have your complete message.
There are times that there will be "INSTRUCTIONS" within the sentences that will tell you to jump here or there, but unless those specific instructions are in the sentences, then you do not do that... and unless the instructions "to move around" are in there, don't do it. There will be a LOT of instructions in the sentences. It tells you where to go, what to leave out, what to scramble, what to Add, what to change, etc. You have to learn these INSTRUCTIONAL KEY words. If you do not familiarize yourself with these Instructional words, you won't know what to do.

Zodiac's communications are all crazy sounding because the right words had to be inserted in the sentences in order for the meanings to come out correctly. Writing the code is not that easy either. To find words to make both sides of the sentence equation to come out, you have to sometimes write things that make no sense, or misspell a word, of put punctuation marks where the do not go(put a period in the middle of the sentence etc, or leave a gaping space, or anything that will help to let you know what to do with a word; or that it means something else)
Zodiac is very good at writing this stuff out, but he also is humorous; however, what appears to be humor is not always humor, and he certainly is NOT crazy... what he is doing, is USING CORRECT CRYPTICS, and when he does that, it comes out sounding insane. I think he does this because he just did not want to take the time to sound serious and still get the words, that would take forever, so he gets lax and just picks the words and uses then in any crazy manner it works... in doing so, he sounds nuts, and he looks like he can't spell, looks like he has no education in grammar etc... But in my opinion he is just in a hurry and does not want to take the time to make it sound normal. So what appears as craziness really isn't.
so when you see something that makes no sense, it is because it is coded... as soon as you see that, you know there is a message there to be decoded. That is if they are being lax and not taking their time to make perfect sense and hide the message at the same time. Zodiac was lax a lot of the time. But he knew that just not anyone would figure out what he was saying, and he knew the people he wanted to figure it out would do so.

Zodiac also had multi-layered communications. Some seemed easy enough to "figure out" but what you figure out on the surface is not the real meaning. Many times there are underlying meanings. On the surface you see a few "key" words but if you do not know what they really are, you think those words are the message, and they are not. They appear to be the cryptic message, but they aren't; there is another layer that is under there. so you have to watch for that also. If you learn the Nations Rules, you will learn how to recognize the messages that are not what they appear to be, and then you know you have to work another layer of that
The 408 is a great example of a multi-layered cryptic message. The substitution solution was just to get to the REAL cryptic message. The REAL cryptic message is the solution from the substitution. Once the words were figured from the substitution, you then have the REAL cryptic which need to be solved. You solve that layer by using Nations. That crazy rambling of his that people think is the solution, isn't the solution. You have to then use Nations on that rambling message to get to the REAL solution.
I've often wondered if Harden's wife knew that?

Little by little, I'll get the rules out here and go through them one by one, so you can see exactly how to do this. This is not something that can be learned in a few days, a few weeks, etc... it takes time, and if you have someone who already knows how to do it, to help you, it will be easier and faster to learn. I had the advantage of knowing the code since a kid, just never realized it was the Nations code. I learned it elsewhere.

Anagrams.... anagrams are word scrambles. It is taking the letters of the word you see, scrambling them around and coming up with a new word. This is done a LOT in the NATIONS. I suggest you get the word scrambler out when you do this and it makes it a LOT easier. Of course there might not be all the words in the word scrambler that Z wanted you to find; so it helps to have a good vocabulary; the better your vocabulary, the easier it will be for you... however, the word scramblers will work just fine for most of it. There are many word scramblers out there but I have a favorite. I do also have a FAIR vocabulary so that helps, but by far, I'm lacking quite a bit in my "word knowledge" when compared to experts, so I use the help of a word scrambler. here is the one I use. It works well for the z stuff... wordfinder.yourdictionary.com/unscramble/but remember, the more things you know about the z case the more knowledge you might have of things in the case he is referring to, so by all means make a list of your KNOWN CASE WORDS and reference them also when you are working the anagrams. However, don't try to FORCE things for a POI, he is not going to be talking about POI's anyway. He will talk about locations, subjects of the times, and things he believes. He's not going to be coding words for POI names. so use knowledge of general known proven things we know about the zodiac, not things about your PET POI. Remember HE is going to lead YOU to the info, not YOU to HIM; and he is going to tell you only what HE WANTS you to know, not what YOU THINK you know. so anagrams... so how do you know if you should SCRAMBLE a word.... well there is usually a clue/instruction that will tell you to scramble the word next to it... such as words in the sentence like...twist, mix, repair, blow up, wrong, crazy, spun. Zodiac likes to use the word NEED/ KNEAD, meaning to mix up the dough, when you see the word NEED in zodiac stuff, think of KNEAD/ KNEADING Dough in pastries, and KNEAD the next word; scramble the next word. once you get your anagram unscrambled then keep working the sentence. and if the word seems to go along with the rest of the sentence, it is probably right. if it is not going along, after you unscramble it, THEN change your unscrambled word to a synonym(different word meaning the same thing) or Homonym (a word that sounds the same but has a different spelling or meaning). more on the synonym and homonym cryptic clues in the next posts

Synonyms... a synonym is a word that means the same thing as another word but it is a different word. Once you have that synonym (different word, meaning the same thing), then that word might be used in other ways. ...for example still might be peaceful, quiet, serene, yet, apparatus(like a moonshiner's apparatus for making whiskey, etc.. it just depends on how much skill a person puts into the code. Zodiac usually does not use that hard of a level, but he can use some off the wall words, that are common to him but maybe not to someone else. Still might even be a substitute for STEAL.
here are a few examples. a lot of them are instructions of what to do next, some are not, they are the words we are looking for in the message.
so plunge ... dive, under, jump. immerse, fall, descent...
shoes - sneaker, flip-flops, platform, mocassin
cue - hint, prompt, catchword, key, job, lead, mnemonic
boo boo - cut, scratch, black and blue mark.
cut - dissection, section, trim, stab, passage, mark
fry - brown, harden, shrivel, cauterize
slave - grind, drudge, perform, dig

Homonyms... these are words that sound the same but are different words with different meanings and a lot of the time spellings
examples of different spelling but sound the same ...
for, fore, four
to too two
ten tin
pen pin
examples of same spellings with different meanings
address... might be a location, or it might mean . to speak to, to address someone
match - to pair something up with . or a wooden match that lights a fire, or another round in a game like tennis
pound - a measurement to weigh something or to beat to pieces
tire- the rubber on the wheel, or to grow weary.
well- quality of health, how well you can do something, a water well,
homonyms can also be the word we are actually looking for as part of the message, or it can be an instruction as to what to do next in the code. penned might mean written, or it can mean the next word is going be ENCASE, penned up inside another word.

words within words, these are called containers
whenever you see the word IN then you are now looking for a word within another word.
example - tangled has ANGLE "in" the word. swelled has WELL "in" it intention has TENT in it imposter has POST
so whenever you see the word IN, INSIDE, within, penned up, in a pen, enclosure, etc, you start looking for words that have another word inside it.
this is all in the same sentence though.

separating words to mean something else.
you will get instructions to
cut part slice snip tear rip stab chop pierce etc
these words are all instructions for you to separate the next word into different words. It doesn't always do this, but you have to look and see if that is what is meant to do.
I'll do more on this later

Hooking words. I don't even know what Term they have for this, but I call it HOOKING words... this is where you take the last letter or letters of the first word and hook it to the first letter or letters for the next word. this will give you a new word. The letters will be in the correct sequence to spell the word correctly.
example ... The couple stared actively when crossing the line out back.
Now read that carefully. the word when is your = sign. it separates your two parts.
The couple(instruction) stared actively = crossing the line out back(direction)
so we are going to couple someting... telling you what to do with the words...
couple stared actively means.... staredactively... staREDACTively = crossing the line out back... telling you to go out BACK... go back Cross the line out... to cross the line out = REDACT
so your word is REDACT .... so when you coupled (or hooked together) your words stared and actively, ... staredactively you have the word REDACT . to get the CHECK for this to make sure you did it right... the other side of the = says crossing the line out... which means to REDACT... and it is saying go back so you know that the word redact back there is the same work you have on this side, so they match.
so when you see these words look for hooked words that you would find if you hooked too words together...
hooking instructions are
coupled, welded, together, glued, stuck, anything that means sticking something together... see if by putting two words together you can get . new word by adding them next to each other.

you might get instructions to remove letters from a word to form a new word...
these kinds of instructions will be words like.
decapitate, topless, headless. words like this mean to take the first part of the word off
example... if you make scowl headless you get SCOWL = owl
instructions to take letter off the end can be endless, backless,
examples trendless becomes trendles
________________________
You can also have instructions to remove certain letters out of the word
i can be removed by saying blind, blinded, with my eyes closed, piercing eyes(cut then out)
C can be removed by the sea has receded / dropped the C
other words meaning take out or remove... left, took out, fall, away from, flip out
remove U - you went away from the house = HOSE . ( you took out the U . / you/U went away from... left, out of ... the house . = hose
there was no sea by our camp = no sea/C by our camp... remove the C . = amp
you can take several letters out of a word by -
I will not bless these shambles . = not bless... take out bless... out of shambles. SHAMBLES = HAM

words like the following mean to move things around or change direction
back forward go around over under fall rise top below over next side follow end front

so those are all pretty simple things once you get a grasp of it... but it will get harder, a lot harder... but you study some simple rules first and then add another rule, learn it, then add another, and another.
Then once you get it to where you have the concept and can do a few easy ones, then we can get out here and work on one of the Z communications.
just remember to work one sentence at a time. make sure you find the split in the sentence for the two sides of the equation, and then make both sides match up. if you can't make it match up, you have it wrong look for a different word to use.
once you get one sentence done then move on to the next sentence. do not combine sentences UNLESS to specifically gives you an "instruction" to do so.
it might tell to look up, fall. it might tell you "to fall" and it might mean "two fall" over (move over) get back up (go up) . that is when it gets complicated and you are going to need some help if you are not use to this.
you might see something like..... it is not fun to fall over but get back up and start over... you will find things like this when giving directions to the 340.. the Coupled Map/32 letter of zodiac also does something similar with the 32 on that one. it has you moving around the 32 down, over , up , etc...
it's going to take time before you can learn to do those. but if someone helps you, you will learn it faster.
the 340 is your road map where you drive your bus...that is where it gets very hard, but you can figure it out after you learn the rules and practice.

You will find that the shorter the communication the harder it is to figure out. News ADS are the really hard ones because there is not enough room to have full sentences, give instructions in the sentences, and give a lot of clues. There are also not very many words to add to your solved message. So to account for not having room they usually will layer the shorter messages. This is when you come up with 2 or 3 different layers of meanings for one or two words in the sentence. This can make for a lot of guessing to get it to all come out right, so you have to keep going over and over it to make sure you are not missing anything. If you miss something in a very long message you still get a lot of the information. If you miss something in a very small message, you can miss the whole solution. All you can do is to keep reworking it until you get it right.
|
|
|
Post by amazingates on Nov 6, 2019 23:38:40 GMT -8
Even after you get the solution, it pays to go back and keep looking at the original communications because it is easy to miss something if there are multiple layers. I've seen a few, not many, but it might be I am missing them. So I might do a quite run through a communication and then keep going back through it to see if there is more info I missed.
The other problem with the the Zodiac communications is so many of them are missing. we just do not have them all. It's pretty easy to figure out some are missing once you are able to work these and it is talking about something you should already know but it is no where . to be found. The reason I think we do not have all we need is either, the stuff looked like gobbly-gook and someone just tossed it out and never turned it in...or...the feds don't want all of that out there. my guess it is a combo of the two reasons. So we are left in the dark as to what to do if it is referring to something we do not have. I think so of the ads are . referring to other ads we do not have. Because it is so hard to get all the info in a small ad i'm wondering if one ad does not move you on to another ad, but we don't have the other ad. so we are left with half a message.

I like coding and have always been interested in but I cant understand it one bit lol Have spent alot of time trying to figure it out and its not happening We do need more people to join the forum that know about coding ______________________ I love codes, give me some good music and some crazy codes and I'm in heaven. I've been coding all my life practically, over a half of century for sure. I love it. Grasshopper, I have found that almost any code gets easier the more you learn the keys. And if a person does not have keys/rules, it is impossible. If we don't know WHAT they are doing, how can we do it? we can't. we could guess for centuries. But once you have the keys, then it is just a matter of practice. I am sure you could do it also if you learned the rules. yes we need more people and several people who are knowledgeable in taking the decode communications and then using them to plot some of this stuff on the maps, which I'm not very good at that at all. I'm a WORD person. I can do "some" number stuff(nothing advanced). I can notice it, but I don't know what to do with it after I have the numbers haha. I can read a lot of the belief systems coding, and work with most things bibical if someone is using biblical coding. I can work with some other languages, but I usually have to look up most of it to get it right. I'm pretty good with doing picture codes. But again there are so many people better than I am. So I normally stick with WORDS

I added this to the top post, but want to say more about it here.
As I was going through these communications I was running into some italian words. Enough of it that it became noticeable. And the way it was put it was like it just was natural. I don't even know why I think that, it just hit me that way. I could be wrong for his reason for using it, but it seems he could have used a different word but didn't. almost like it was just as natural for him to use italian as it was english. I'm really wondering if the communications writer(be it one person or another) is fluent in Italian. Yes, anyone can look up Italian words, but it seem to natural for me the way it is done. I'm just guessing, but I really think it. It might also be some other latin based language I have not checked but it certainly is Italian also.
and the other thing that is a dead giveaway to me is out of all the communications and content he seemed to really want to get certain words to jump out and some of those are Italian words. I'll post about those specifics on another thread. So we can just use this thread for learning THE NATIONS... but just want to let people know. some of the words are Itailian and I will point that out when working out the solutions.
