We definitely seem to think alike in a lot of ways haha. Pretty cool considering a lot of people are not wired that way. The merchant marine was named Richard Calvin Zaleski. I found his name while trying to come up with some ideas for the merchant marine that Robert Tarbox supposedly met with that claimed to be Zodiac. I think I have a thread on Zaleski, I'll check real quick...... EDIT: Here is the Zaleski thread, but I guess I haven't copied over all of the info on him just yet. theslaughterhouse.freeforums.net/thread/85/richard-zaleski-missing

This is getting soooooo tangled ... omg . campbell goes to the virgin islands.. I wonder if he went there often, and maybe that was him also when darlene and crabtree went there?
and now he has this bomb in a toolbox, just like a girl in modesto was killed by when she opened it and this was when all the other girls were dead and missing out off of maze where kj was kidnapped. I swear this can't get any more nuts than this ... can it? lol
and your guy is named stephen and so is chris' guy, except his guy has your guy's wife's last name. what the holy hell hahaha

I remember reading about Campbell a while back. I think that was one of the first names that popped up when the Chandler story fist came out. I want to say that he was being talked about as a DB Cooper suspect as well but I could be mistaken.

There was a Joseph N. Chandler that married a woman named Page on 8/13/1988 in North Carolina. They divorced 8/20/1992. I was trying to find more info on this and found that some people had posted it on other sites already, but I haven't really found anything that shows if it is the same Nichols/Chandler or not.
This Joseph Chandler and wife Page were reported to be living in North Carolina at the time of their marriage and at the time of their divorce, so I don't think it is the same guy. His death certificate does say divorced, so I am wondering if he was married under the Chandler name at all or if this is from his marriage from before he left his family.
Nichols' brother Marvin lived in Beaufort, NC from 1950 until 1993. Coincidence?

Posted by TejasRob on a Zodiac site: It says that this is a work history put together by Elliott investigation and that these were all jobs under the name of Joseph Chandler. The older ones are not confirmed, but it dates back to 1966 so he could have been using the false name long before applying for SSN.

I suppose it's possible he could have become involved in some sort of religious cult type group. Some of them can be rather dangerous. Been doing a little reading on the People's Temple and it started in Indiana and moved to California in 1965. They had members cut ties to family. This is an angle worth pursuing."
Hmmm Nichols was from Indiana and went to California around 1965 as well. Could be a connection I suppose.

I'm falling asleep. going to bed. okay I went back and refound this ... probably not him but Just in case U.S., School Yearbooks, 1900-1999 for Robert F Nichols ( wrong middle initial but you never know, that is his father's middle initial) California Los Angeles Los Angeles County Bar Association 1978

That doesn't look like him in my opinion... I got an hour left at work, I'll see what I can find out on this marriage, if anything. I don't think it is the same Chandler living in North Carolina, but it's worth looking into.
Also worth noting is that the letter he sent his son Phil in 1965 (?) contained one penny. Was this him saying "screw you" to his family for some reason? It could be that he was trying to dodge child support like some have suggested, but why change your name in 1978 when your kids are adults and your wife has remarried? That makes no sense to me.

That makes no sense to me. _________________ yes, I read about the one penny sent. I really don't think it would be the child support, if so, he was really not hiding for ages and he was working under his own name for years. I doubt he would be doing that if he was worried about someone taking his money. And if they were looking for him for child support they definitely would have found him through his work record. Maybe the Penny was a "lucky penny". Back then if you found a penny it was always said... "oh, I found a lucky penny" and you would keep it. That was a very common thing then. He told his mother he had forgot Phil's photo so he must have cared about that. It was also said he did not talk much etc with his kids even before he left, so maybe he just had no words and just was thinking of phil and sent him a lucky penny? the guy is definitely weird in his thinking so who knows what he thought he was doing. ? maybe "a penny for your thoughts" meaning he was wondering what Phil thought. I'm a word person so my brain always "works words" and this makes no sense but other "word" people would think like this .... so maybe he "sent a cent" whatever that might mean. maybe he finally thought a letter should be "sent" so he "cent" it. haha . Sounds like something Dennis Rader would do LOL

I got to thinking about the letter he wrote asking for a copy of his final decree of his divorce... He wrote the letter July 4 1965. I wonder why he thought he needed that THEN... If he did not even know he was suppose to get a document for that, then WHAT alerted him to the fact "at that time" that he needed one? Did he plan on getting married again? if so he would have to prove he was divorced when he filled out his application for marriage license. If you are buying real estate you might need to prove you are divorced so you don't have to add your wifes name to the deed, or you don't have to have her file a quit claim. what would be other reasons? If it was so he could get remarried and he was living in california, maybe we should look there for a marriage application? But I got to thinking, there are no public records of "Confidential Marriages" in the state of California. You can get married and the only two people in the world to be able to get the record or know about it, is the two people who got married. Other than that there has to be a court order to even know it exists. So he could have been married in cali, and we just can't have access to it and it won't be public, so we would never find it. However, if they ever get a divorce, the divorce can show up. Let me go try looking for a divorce. I'd just about guess this guy got remarried under confindential marriage. If he did, he could get married, move off and get remarried over and over and never have to get a divorce because no one would ever know he was married. but in the case of his first wife he would have to have proof of divorce from her to be able to get remarried. just making a list here of any Robert Nichols I find getting married in Los Angeles around 1955 after July 4th. then we can eliminate any we know for sure are not him. I'm going to ignore the middle initialsOf course just because he might have gotten married in Los Angeles, does not mean he got divorced there. But I'll go through and check all of these and see if I can figure out if one of them is him. He might have never go divorced if a confidential marriage... if so there is going to be no record of the marriage or a divorce. He could have 100 wives and no records of it. but he would be on a kid's death certificate most likely. birth certificates for cali are very hard to find public now. and in the indexes they list only the mother's maiden name in cali, they don't list the father at all.
